Vista is not recognizing my Kodak printer

Adding a printer on local area network on Windows Vista OS is simple in theory but it can prove onerous process in real, no matter if Add Printer Wizard is built in your Windows. At the time of installing printers, sometimes it does not display in the list of available printers and sometimes error message starts with “Windows cannot connect to this printer”.

Perform these basic checks if your Windows Vista won’t recognize your Kodak printer -

1. If you have connected your printer through Ethernet connection then test the printer in a different USB port.
2. Make sure that your Kodak printer is plugged into a working power socket and powered on. Also, power cables and data cable are firmly inserted.
3. If your operating system does not detect your Kodak printer automatically then run a manual scan for new hardware from the Hardware section of Control Panel.

Install Printer Drivers on Windows Vista in these ways -

a) Using the Printers folder

1. First of all, click on Start button> Control Panel> Hardware and Sound. After this, tap on Printers to launch the printers folder.
2. In the next step, press right-click on Kodak printer for which you want to install drivers. Press a click on “Run as administrator”. After this, click on Properties option. Now you are prompted to enter administrator password, just enter it and hit OK.
3. Next, launch the Add Printer Driver Wizard by clicking on Advanced > New Driver. To complete the Kodak printer driver installation, you have to follow the guided prompts in the installation wizards.

b) Install Printer drivers from the manufacturer website

1. Tap on Start button then on All Programs > Accessories.
2. Then, tap on System Tools> System Summary. Now a dialog box will display on the screen that will display all information about your PC. To find out the version of Windows Vista that you are running, you just need to review the OS name and System Type.
3. Open your printer’s manufacturer website and then locate the Downloads section. Now you have to search for a driver that is compatible with your Windows Vista operating system. Once you find the drivers, just follow on-screen prompts to install the printer driver on your computer.
If still, your Windows Vista is not recognizing your Kodak printer then it might be possible that printer itself is faulty. One of the easiest way to check for this is the attempt to install your Kodak printer on another computer. If the same problem still persists then printer itself is creating the problem and nothing else.
